Switch Pro, This is Not

Image
After so many "leak", rumors and "reports", Nintendo has finally taken the lid off the next iteration of the Nintendo Switch! Just one small detail though, this is not the Switch Pro that all of the leaks were talking about.  It turns out to be a far cry of any of the mentioned specs, there will be no technical bump.  So what exactly are we getting with this new Switch? OLED! - the biggest and more noticeable difference is will be the screen, it should offer perfect blacks, brighter and more colorful image. Hinge - No more off center, flimsy hinge.  The new hinge will cover the entire back and has almost unlimited placement, similarly to the Microsoft Surface line of laptops. Audio - "Enhanced Audio". Dock - The new dock will come with a built in LAN. Internals - [BLANK] All kidding aside, these are incremental upgrades and refinements that would make it an attractive purchase for a newcomer.  Most of the disappointment is mostly coming existing owners who

Sony Welcomes Returnal Developer Into the PlayStation Family

Image
Sony has made the very wise decision to purchase Housemarque games, the makers of PS5 exclusive Returnal.  A relatively small studio that have been making outstanding games will now have the backing of a major corporation that should help it realize the visions of bigger games. Returnal has been considered by many PS5 players as the true beginning of this new generation of consoles because of how detailed, smooth and technical marvel to look at and play.  However, the game's difficulty does turn off some people.  Either way, this is a huge win for Sony and gamers.  Are you looking forward to the possibilities of what's next? Microsoft Powers Xbox Cloud Gaming with Series X

Image
Microsoft today announced that they are expanding it's gaming cloud service to more countries and upgrading the quality to Series X.  Previously it was only available to Android devices through a native app and on iOS through the web browser.  However, today they announced that the games can be played directly from xbox.com/play from any device and instantly be transported to all of that cloud gaming goodness. The experience will also make a big upgrade starting today.  Previous Xbox cloud games were using custom Xbox One X running in their datacenters but now they've been upgraded to Series X.  This means that Next-Gen graphics and technologies will now be available to subscribers whether they own one or not.  This essentially means that, assuming good internet, your games will look better on your phone or PC than on your Xbox One X/S. When it comes to cloud gaming, Microsoft is doing things a bit differently than Nvidia, Amazon or Google.  While those services allow you to bu

Super Smash Brothers - Kazuya Gameplay

Image
During today's special Super Smash Bros. Ultimate stream, Nintendo fully revealed Kazuya, the latest fighter from the Tekken series.  The gameplay style of this new character is actually more akin to Tekken, but fits right in with Smash Bros.  At first glance, it looks like a more robust Ryu with ranged attacks. Kazuya makes the10th fighter released for Smash Bros. Ultimate under the second DLC pass.  While never say never, Sakurai stated that the next and 11th fighter will be the last. That's a lot of post release content, while not all pleased everyone, there's no denying that this is the best post release support that Nintendo has ever provided for one of its games. The fighter will be released tomorrow on 6/29/21.

ARMS Min Min Amiibo Announced

Image
Nintendo revealed a new amiibo during the Super Smash Brothers stream earlier today.  The stream was focused on the new character, Kazuya from Tekken fighting series, revealed during Nintendo's E3 presentation. While I've stopped the amiibo buying frenzy a while ago, this one looks to be detailed and might be worth picking up.  Nintendo's amiibo quality continues to improve and the prices are reflecting that.  Amiibos started at $12 and are now as much as $15. The Min Min amiibo is set to release in 2022.  Kazuya fighter is releasing tomorrow! Will you be placing your pre-order when they go live?
